The Advantages of a Front Loading Washer and Dryer

Front loading washers and dryers have gained popularity over the last few years.  Consumers are now looking for appliances that meet their expectations on more than just performance.

Front loading washers and dryers provide numerous advantages over their counterparts. Let’s take a look at all the benefits these washers and dryers can offer you and your family.

The main advantage of a front loading washer and dryer is energy conservation. A front loading washer can easily save over $100 per year in energy costs, and it uses ½ as much water. Because it uses less water, it also requires up to 68% less electricity to heat the water, resulting in more energy savings. Many consumers also find that a front loading washer removes more water during the final spin cycle. This translates into shorter drying times, which equals even more energy savings.

Another great advantage is a front loading washer provides a larger capacity.  Since there is no bulky, central agitator, the drum can hold at least 20 to 30% more per load. This is perfect for large families or large loads such as towels, blankets or other bedding. Fewer loads translate into savings in energy and water usage.

A front loading washer is also gentler on your clothes and quieter to use. Instead of a centralized agitator grabbing and pushing your clothes around, a front loading washer gently picks up your clothes and allows them to drop in the soapy water.  Gentler agitation can extend the lifespan of your clothes significantly. As a top loading washer ages, it tends to become noisier and unbalanced. This rarely happens with a front loading washer.

A front loading washer cleans better than its counterpart with less water and detergent. A top loading washer must use enough water to cover the highest level of clothing. On the other hand, a front loading washer only uses enough water to cover approximately the lower third of the tub. Detergents designed for a front loading washer use a lower soap formula, and are designed to release different cleansing agents at different water temperatures.

Another cause for their rise in popularity is the number of combinations that are available, and the convenience of these combinations. A front loading machine can be stored under a counter or other workspace. This provides better access for those with limited space. In addition, the control panel is located within easy reach at the front of the machine.

If you are looking to purchase a new washer and dryer set, consider a front loading washer and dryer. The savings in water, energy, detergent and wear and tear on clothes can be significant. When you are ready, come to our store and speak with a member of our Appliance Sales Team. They will be able to help you select the perfect washer and dryer.
