LCD TV or LED TV: Which is better?

Flat panel TVs have exploded in popularity over the years.  These TVs have experienced major advancements in picture quality, sound quality and design.  With all the advancements and options, it’s becoming more important to know how to select the perfect flat panel TV. Let Kellum Audio/Video & Appliances help you select the TV best fit for your needs.

LCD TVs
LCD TVs are well known for their speed and brilliance.  They are lightweight, stylish and slim.  LCD (liquid crystal display) TVs’ thickness is measured at approximately 3 to 4 inches.  Because of their thickness and their lack of weight, they are easy to mount.  LCD TVs also have good viewing angles.  They use a pencil-thin florescent tube rather than a light-emitting diode (LED), which is great for energy efficiency.

LED TVs
LED TVs are visually stunning, energy efficient and easy to mount on the wall.  LED (light-emitting diode) screens are actually LCD screens that use LED lights behind the screen.  This can be done by using LEDs across the entire back of the display, or just around the perimeter of the display.  This produces a more luminescent lighting on the display.  These TVs produce better quality light; resulting in vivid colors.LED TVs maintain their color accuracy much longer than LCD TVs, which is a great benefit.  Another great benefit is the energy efficiency.  LED TVs can save up to 40% more power than an LCD TV.  These TVs are lightweight and very thin, approximately 1-2 inches thick; with an attractive design that makes them perfect for wall-mounting.

If you are looking for more of a home theater experience, you should look into LaserVue TV technology from Mitsubishi.  Mitsubishi announced the beginning of the laser era and the immediate availability of the world's first, laser-powered television.  These televisions are available in 73”, 82” and 92” screens.  After months of anticipation, many consumers have already purchased LaserVue and have had the rare opportunity to experience the amazing breadth and depth of color that laser television offers. LaserVue has been introduced as the most energy efficient large-format, high definition television available on the market today. LaserVue not only delivers two times the color of many of today's HDTV's, but it also uses exponentially less power than LCD and plasma TVs.

With the large selection of flat panel TVs available, it is hard to decide which TV is best.  Before shopping, ask yourself: What room are you buying it for?  Do you want a large TV mounted on the wall or a portable TV?  Do you want to enhance the look of your room with a slim design?  Is PC or internet connectivity important to you?  Once you have the answer to these questions, come see us.  A member of our Sales Team will be able to help you select the TV perfectly fit for you and your home.
